Oakdale Soccer Club Earns State Recognition

In just its third year as an organization, Oakdale Soccer Club is being recognized as the “2019 Non-Profit of the Year” for Assembly District 12. This prestigious honor will be handed out to representatives from the youth soccer organization on Wednesday, June 5 as part of California Nonprofits Day. The event will be held at the Capitol Building in Sacramento.

“This is super exciting, when we received the letter in the mail from Assemblyman Heath Flora we were definitely surprised and honored,” said Oakdale Soccer Club Vice President Cherilyn Bairos.

Flora sent the organization the letter in April and is scheduled to be in attendance at the June 5 ceremony to present them with the award.

“How amazing it is to see where we started in 2017 to now. We have a wonderful staff of volunteers and it’s because of their hard work and dedication that we receive this honor,” Bairos added.

Oakdale Soccer Club is entering its third season this fall and it is not too late to register players, or be a part of the award-winning organization. Registration ends Friday, May 31 and players can be registered on their website at oakdalesoccerclub.org.

The organization is also seeking volunteers, coaches and sponsors. Anyone interested in getting involved or seeking more information about Oakdale Soccer Club can visit their website or contact Bairos at (209) 496-1134.
