Winners of nine straight games, Kimball High’s undefeated baseball team had played quality programs across all divisions of enrollment for an entire month.

But they hadn’t played Oakdale.

The Mustangs ignored a dazzling Valley Oak League-best 103-16 scoring ratio in Kimball’s favor by downing the Jaguars 5-0 in Tracy on March 26, then shellacking Kimball 11-0 at home two days later.

Oakdale (3-1 VOL, 8-5 overall) used the series to vault Kimball (2-2, 9-2-1) in the conference standings.

Oakdale belted nine hits in the first win and scored twice in the fifth, once in the sixth and once in the seventh. Nick Ippolito and Ericksen Dickens each belted two hits with a double while Dickens, Miko Arpoika, Colt Parshall and Bryce Dyrda managed RBIs. Eddie Machado tossed seven full innings to tally the win with seven strikeouts and just one hit surrendered.

On March 28, Dyrda landed a five-inning one-hitter with nine strikeouts from the hill. Dickens (three RBIs) smashed a home run while Parshall (three RBIs, triple) and Machado (two RBIs) had two hits each.

Oakdale began the four-day Valley Christian Tournament on Monday, though results were not available at press time. The Mustangs return to VOL play on April 9 to begin a series with Weston Ranch.
