Gators Win Big In Turlock

The Oakdale Gators youth swim program saw fast times lead to big points and a tri-meet win over both the Stanislaus Sharks and Turlock Marlins on Saturday at Pitman High. The victory was a sweet one for the Gators, as they look to start peaking in time for the championships in the Mid Valley League later this month.In all, seven Oakdale swimmers earned the nod as top swimmers in their collective age groups during Saturday’s Mid Valley Swim League action.Arielle Cook was best in the 15-16 girls division after wins in each of her events. She finished with 27 points, as did 11-12 girls winner Emily Bennett.Cameron Elswick (13-14) and Garrett Allan (7-8) netted 27 points each and snagged high point accolades.Lucas Hardy grabbed 23 points and high point honor for the six and under boys while Jacob Debow scored 25 points to lead the 9-10 boys. Haley Rivera was the best 7-8 girl with 25 points on Saturday.Buoyed by the win, the team will get back in the pool soon. Oakdale will take on two teams in a tri-meet at Ripon on Saturday. The Mid Valley Swim League championships follow on July 24 and 25.
