The 11-12 age division standout for the Oakdale gators youth swim team, Emily Bennett, nabbed the highest score of any Mid Valley League swimmer in her group with 23 points at the MVSL championships in Turlock on Saturday, July 24.
Bennett earns Athlete of the Week honor from The Leader for her efforts.
The speedy swimmer was first in the 100-yard individual medley (1 minute, 15.17 seconds), first in the 50 backstroke (32.67) and fourth in the 50 free (29.30).
She also placed sixth on the 200 medley relay, helping that squad to a 2:26.59 time.
Bennett, who also nabbed athlete of the week honors for her exploits with the Gators one week in the 2007 season, is primed for a successful prep career and more success with Oakdale’s recreation and year-round swim programs.
