Swimmers Split Dual Meet

Oakdale swimmers traveled to Ripon to take on the Indians and East Union on Thursday, March 30. On the windy day, Oakdale’s girls lost to Ripon 68-54 despite having multiple girls set personal best times. The Oakdale girls did defeat East Union 134-65.

“I think everyone swam well considering how windy it was out there,” Oakdale Coach Russ Van Cleave said.

For the girls Claire McKeon swam a personal best 100 fly with a time of 1:05.76 for Oakdale. Daytona McGinnis placed first in the 50 freestyle as she posted a personal best time of 26.69. McGinnis also placed first in the 100 yard freestyle where she posted another personal best at 59.71. Kassidy Houck placed first in the 200 IM setting a personal best time of 2:31.87.

The boys also hit the pool and fell to Ripon 94-53 and beat East Union 82-63. Leading the way for Oakdale was Jackson Metcalfe in the 100 freestyle. The senior placed first in the event with a speedy time of 50.18. Caden Nord placed first in the 100 breaststroke at 1:05.75.

Thursday, April 6 the team will host Sierra, Lathrop and Mountain House inside the Oakdale High School Aquatic Center. The meet is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time. The Mustangs will travel to Tracy on Thursday, April 13 to take on Central Catholic and Kimball in the final Valley Oak League meet of the regular season before going to Ripon for the VOL Championship on Saturday, April 29.
