Swimmers Battle VOL Rivals In League Meet

In the recent Valley Oak League championship swim meet, Oakdale’s girls scored a total of 75 points to capture third place in league. Host Ripon High School took first place with a total of 148 points. For the boys Oakdale placed sixth overall with a total of 44 points, first place went to Manteca at 107.

For the girls Whitney Lee placed fourth in the 500 yard freestyle, with teammate Andrea York placing fifth. Daytona McGinnis placed fifth in the 100 yard fly. Nessa Deleon placed sixth in the 100 yard backstroke and Bethany Metcalfe placed seventh for the girls in the 100 yard breaststroke. Oakdale’s Kassidy Houck and Jensen Perry placed in the top five for the 200 yard freestyle. Houck also took first in the 100 yard freestyle. Oakdale’s 200 yard medley relay team placed third overall. The team also took second in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Clare McKeon placed fifth overall in the 200 yard IM, individual medley.

In competition for the boys, Caden Nord turned in an impressive day for Oakdale as the junior placed first in the 50 yard freestyle and second in the 200 yard IM. Jackson Metcalfe placed second in the 100 yard freestyle and fourth in the 50 yard freestyle. Also making a splash were Ethan Perry and Chandler Neal, as they placed in the top 10 of the 100 yard freestyle.

The Mustangs return to the pool on Thursday, May 11 as the girls look to qualify for the sections and the boys look to qualify on Friday for sections at Tokay High School. Section Finals are set for Saturday, May 13 at Tokay High School in Lodi.
