Swim Season Ends

Oakdale’s Caden Nord could not cap off his magical 2017 season with a state finals appearance in Clovis on May 19 and 20. The junior qualified for state consideration one week prior at the CIF SAC-Joaquin Section Finals in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle but failed to make it to the final cut of the State Meet at Clovis West High School. This season, though, Nord set the bar for Oakdale men’s swimmers as he broke the school record in the 100 yard freestyle and also broke his own 2016 school record in the 50 yard freestyle.

Also up for state consideration were the girls 200 and 400 yard freestyle relay teams. Bethany Metcalfe, Kassidy Houck, Madi Blanc and Daytona McGinnis were considered but also did not get the chance to make the trip to Clovis West High School.
