Seniors Capture Powder Puff Championship
1023 SENIORS
Coaches and players from the Class of 2014 gather for a team photo, celebrating their second consecutive Powder Puff championship.

For the second year in a row, the Class of 2014 – “Best You’ve Seen” according to their motto – claimed the Homecoming Week Powder Puff championship.

Last year, the class defeated the outgoing seniors and this year, as seniors themselves, utilized an arsenal of weapons to run away with the contest by a 35-14 final over the juniors.

With a confident and versatile signal caller in QB Christina Bradshaw – also a Homecoming Queen candidate – the seniors built up an early 14-0 lead on a pair of touchdown runs from Kori Altmann. A 65-yard run by volleyball standout Christina Cobarruvias helped make it 21-0 for the seniors and they capped the first half scoring on a play that saw Bradshaw line up as a receiver, hauling in a pass for the score, leading 28-0.

Junior Ashley Arnett put her team on the board with a score in the third quarter to make it 28-7 and the teams continued to battle through the third quarter. On the first play of the fourth quarter, it was Homecoming Queen candidate Dezirae Pennington notching the touchdown for a 35-7 senior lead. Another Arnett touchdown with just under 3:30 to go in the game made it 35-14. That completed the scoring, though, with the seniors celebrating the back-to-back titles with coaches Will Clipper, Darrin Powers, Clay Ruddy, Austin Steves and Mikey Stout.
