This Memorial Day weekend, nearly 40 youth track and field teams will invade Oakdale High School for the 11th annual Tom Moore Youth Classic Meet. This free to the public two day event begins on Saturday, May 28 at 8 a.m. and resumes Sunday at 8 a.m. for the finals.

Hosted by the Central Valley Roadrunners Youth Track and Field Club of Modesto, the event honors the late Tom Moore who was the starter for the Modesto Coca Cola Relays at Modesto Junior College. With some of the top youth talent from ages 7-18 in Northern and Central California competing, there will be nearly 700 athletes, including several from Oakdale.

Last year’s meet saw 21 meet records broken when the event was held at Ripon. Trophies will be handed out along with ribbons and medals in the appropriate events. Food and drinks will be available for purchase through a variety of vendors that will be at the event.
