For the second consecutive season, the Oakdale varsity boys basketball team defeated East Union at home. Last season the team needed double-overtime to take down the Lancers, but this past week Oakdale had little problem knocking them out in regulation, 54-43.

The Mustangs (9-10, 1-4) held the Lancers (4-13, 0-4) to just 11 first half points. Three Mustangs scored in double figures in the win as Marc Dickson led the team with 13. Center Sam Medlin scored 11 and John Foreman added 10. The win stopped an eight game Valley Oak League skid dating back to last season.

With the score 41-34 with 5:11 left to play, Jace Krick hit a midrange jumper to give Oakdale a nine point advantage. On the other end of the floor Medlin rejected a shot attempt, giving Oakdale the ball back and that resulted in a Dickson layup to ice the game.

Just 48 hours later the team traveled to Lathrop (5-11, 2-2) where the Spartans defeated Oakdale 75-52.

Oakdale travels to Manteca to take on the Buffaloes (6-11, 2-2) on Wednesday, Jan. 17 with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday night the team hosts Sierra (7-10, 2-2) with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
