Oakdale Opens VOL Following Bye Week
OHS Mustangs

Oakdale football is coming into Valley Oak League (VOL) action rested. The varsity team was on a bye this past Friday night and has its sights set on another VOL title. This Friday night Oakdale opens the season on the road when they travel to take on the East Union Lancers in Manteca.

The league opener is the first of seven VOL games this season, and all seven Mustang opponents want to be the ones to dethrone the reigning CIF State Champions. All teams in the VOL played three non-conference games thus far and East Union was one of three unbeaten teams in the league. East Union outscored their opponents 136-40 and was the highest scoring team in that three game span amongst the VOL squads.

Last season Oakdale defeated East Union 42-6. Kickoff for the varsity game is scheduled for 7 p.m. following the junior varsity season opener against the Lancers. Kickoff for the JV is scheduled for 5 p.m.
