The 2017 Oakdale Mustangs baseball season was truly one to remember. Oakdale swept past everyone in the Valley Oak League this year to win the league with a perfect 14-0 record. This past week the annual All VOL Awards were announced and the league champions were recognized by their peers.

Head coach Nate Gregory was named Coach of the Year for the first time in his four years at the helm. Senior and four-year varsity catcher Bryce Kirk was named Most Valuable Player. Making first team honors were pitchers Vito Rodin and Blake Whiting. Infielders Michael Juarez and Nick Moore were named first team along with outfielder Cullen Bearden.

Second team honors were given to infielder Blake Maddock and outfielders Jordan Williams and Corey Hinojosa. Senior third baseman Tyler Hall landed on the honorable mention list.

Wednesday May 31 at 6 p.m., the boys from freshman, junior varsity and varsity levels will all be recognized for their efforts this season at the annual baseball banquet. The banquet will be held at the Gene Bianchi Community Center.
