Oakdale High’s senior goalkeeper, Scotty McNeil, made a huge impact on the Mustang varsity soccer team over the past week. With Oakdale facing two tough opponents after a 0-3-1 start to the Valley Oak League season, McNeil stepped up with big plays on the defensive and offensive front to lead his team to two straight victories.
He scored one of just two Oakdale goals in a 2-1 thriller over Weston Ranch on Sept. 26 and added an assist during a 3-0 victory over a talented Manteca squad on Sept. 28.
McNeil had nine saves and allowed just one goal throughout the week in the net.
He earns an Athlete of the Week nod from The Leader for his big efforts on the pitch.
