AAU Event Scheduled For June 14 In Riverbank

With construction underway at The Corral at Oakdale High School, this year’s AAU Junior Olympic Games Qualifying Meet will be held instead at Riverbank High School.

The four-day event begins on Wednesday, June 14 for the Pacific and Central California Districts as hopefuls look to qualify for the Junior Olympic Games in Detroit, Michigan beginning next month. Young athletes from the ages of 4-18 will compete in several Olympic style events in hopes of qualifying for the big event.

Qualifying will be determined by the top six individual finishers in running events, top five individual finishers in field events, top five relay teams and top four multi-event finishers will advance to the National AAU Junior Olympic Games. The top four place finishers in each event will receive medals. Each event is broken down into age divisions, for individual events the divisions are 8U, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15-16 and 17-18. For the relay teams divisions are 8U, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16 and 17-18. Check-in times are Wednesday, June 14 at 7 a.m.; Thursday, June 15, 7 a.m.; Friday, June 16 at 1 p.m.; and Saturday, June 17 at 7 a.m.

There is still an opportunity to sign up; online entry deadline is Monday, June 12 at 11:59 p.m.
