Football Teams Take Down Kimball In League Play

Heading out on the road for Friday, Oct. 18 Valley Oak League action, the trip to Tracy was successful for the football Mustangs.

The varsity team improved to 4-1 in league play with a solid 49-21 win over the host Jaguars while the JV team continued to play well, upending the Kimball junior varsity in a 51-21 decision.

Meanwhile, at home, it was a big win for the freshmen.

Capping a perfect 9-0 season with a 55-7 victory on Thursday night, the youngest Oakdale football players scored early and often against Kimball in their Oct. 17 contest.

They started it out with an 18-yard run by Carlos Baez, followed by the PAT from Brock Osmundson. Other scores quickly followed, Baez again from six yards out, kick good; 37-yard run by Garrison Gerber, kick good. An 80-yard run by Baez, kick good, broke the game open.

Also scoring were Chris Thomas from four yards out, kick good; Osmundson on a 29-yard run with the kick good, a 15-yard keeper from quarterback Mick Merzon, kick no good; and capping the Oakdale onslaught was Zach Stott on a 10-yard run with Osmundson adding the kick for the 55-7 final score.
