Annual Salmon Duathlon, In Knights Ferry

On Your Mark Events presents its 22nd Annual Salmon Duathlon and 5K Run on Saturday, Nov. 3, 8:45 a.m., in Knights Ferry.

This fall classic has become a very popular event for serious and weekend athletes throughout California and western Nevada. The Salmon Duathlon course distances consist, in the order of, a 5K Run (two loops), 30K Bike, and 2.5K Run (one loop). The Duathlon and the 5K run courses are on paved surfaces that run through rolling hills and features running along the Stanislaus River, through the Knights Ferry covered bridge (the longest covered bridge west of the Mississippi), and into and around Knights Ferry – featuring the fall foliage in full season.

Both the Salmon Duathlon and 5K Run will start at 8:45 a.m., with check-in and registration beginning at 7:30 a.m., in the parking lot of the Knights Ferry Recreation Area, off Sonora Road in Knights Ferry. Participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt, snacks, refreshments (including beer), and entry into a raffle with great prizes. Awards will presented to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as top Master’s (age 50 and over) male and female finishers in duathlon and 5K. In addition, medals will be awarded to men and women, three deep (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place), in ten-year age groups through 70+ in each race. Duathlon Relay Team awards will be presented to top Male, Female and Coed Teams.

The entry fee to the duathlon is $60 per person, pre-registered and $70 race-day registration. For duathlon relay teams (1 runner and 1 biker) are $100 pre-registered and $120 for day-of registration. The 5K Run fee is $40 pre-registered and $50 race-day registration.

Since 1988 On Your Mark Events has produced, managed, and provided timing and results services for more than 1,000 sporting events. These events include runs, duathlons, triathlons, bike races, swimming competitions, and track and field meets. Headquartered in Arnold, the company is directed by co-principals and husband and wife Mark and Kandee Aiton.
