Yes On Measure T
Placeholder Image

Dear Editor,

I visit the Oakdale branch of our Stanislaus County libraries about once a week. This is what I notice on a typical visit:
Most computers in use. Some are teenagers usually on a social site, a few are adults searching for employment or filling out applications, several are checking their e-mails.

Small line at the check-out counter.

One-on-one tutoring at a table.

Library employee helping a patron.

Students doing homework.

Adults reading the newspaper.

Mothers with their children checking out materials

I see all ages; all walks of life. Sometimes free services are being held in the extra room, such as tax preparations, book sales, story time, and estate planning advice.

It is a safe public building to read, relax, and catch up with the news. The library benefits all of our community. There are no clubs to join, no annual dues, no annual income bracket to meet. It’s a place where we have free access to information and ideas.

It is our responsibility to approve Measure T. The approval does not raise our sales tax; it continues to give the library system one-eighth of one penny of our sales tax for this service. We owe this to ourselves, our community and our future. Please join me and vote YES. Thank you.
