Dear Editor,

I live in Oakdale, because of the high price of gas and vehicle fees I have made a choice to take the bus, which involves a lot of walking as well as riding. I walk in Modesto, Turlock (I work in Turlock) and Oakdale. By far the scariest place of all is Oakdale. I have been almost “run down” at least three times a week. I am cautious to only use the crosswalks and cross when it is clear. As a matter of fact one of the Oakdale Police Officers almost ran me over a few weeks ago, and then scowled at me for the incident. Maybe they need to do what several other cities/towns in California have done and send police officers out just to see how terrible it is to try and cross the streets in Oakdale. I would also like to mention I do not use my cell phone when walking, I can barely chew gum and walk at the same time, let alone talk/text while walking. Thanks for listening.
