In loving memory, we announce the passing of William E. Combs. He was born on November 20, 1935 in Middletown, Ohio, to David Elmer Combs and Doris Updike Combs. His beloved grandparents were Carl E. Combs and Lillian Rogers Combs, and siblings Sonia Jo, Pamela Seabrook, and Dietra Bradley. In 1948 at age 13 he hitch-hiked across the country and settled in Oakdale, California. He attended Oakdale H.S. and then enlisted in the Navy in 1950 at age 15 during the Korean War. After returning to Oakdale, he married Virginia Kochevar Combs and had two children, Melodie Combs Leichner and Carl Edward Combs.

He was also a loving and devoted grandfather to Kurt, Mishon, Devin, Jessica, Tanner, Mitch, and Lindsay. He was a railroad man, and worked many years for Santa Fe and Amtrak, holding various positions, including switchman, yard master, brakeman, and conductor. He was an excellent water skier and he enjoyed motorcycles and the 49ers.

There will be a private family only service. As his final request, he extends his eternal love to family and friends.
