Virginia A. Myers, 90, died Thursday, March 28 in Ripon.

She was born in St. Louis, Okla. to John and Mertie Hamby, who also had a son Ernest Hamby. She had nine stepbrothers, James, Almer, Marvin, Claude, Lester, Carl, Millard, Ray, and Truman, and four stepsisters, Verda, Leola, Neda, and Veta.

She grew up in central Oklahoma and moved to Hughson in 1961. She lived in Oakdale for approximately 50 years. She was part of the Oakdale Senior Center and enjoyed many friends there.

Ms. Myers was a certified nursing assistant earlier in her career and continued to pursue that passion into her 80s, often taking care of those who needed a helping hand. She discovered in her 70s a talent and love for painting and appreciated Thomas Kincaid’s work.

She will be remembered for being a loving mother, grandmother, and caring friend for those in need of care. She enjoyed spending time with close friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Jenkins of Ripon; sons, Alfred (Kathy) Myers of Big Oak Flats, Wilford (Sandy) Myers of Konawa, Okla., Windell (Johna) Myers of Seminole, Okla., John (Alma) Myers of Golden, Mo.; sisters, Leola Davis, Veta Burress; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 8 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel, 830 West F St. A graveside service and burial will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9 at Oaklawn Memorial Park, Oakdale.

Remembrances may be made in her name to Bethany Home, Ripon.
