Sharon Lee Cearley of Modesto passed away on October 8, 2023.

Sharon was born in San Rafael, CA on November 5, 1938 to Henrietta (Brugger) Warren and Willard (Bill) W. Warren.

Sharon spent her childhood in various Bay Area towns until she was 10 when she moved with her parents to Mariposa, CA where they operated various restaurants in the area. This is where she met her sister-friend Vanessa.

Sharon spent many happy hours in or near the Merced River at Briceburg. She graduated from Mariposa County High School in 1956 and got a job at Farmers Insurance in Merced. In November of that year she married her husband, Calvin C. Cearley. They had three children, Lon, Rick and Perian. Eventually they settled in Oakdale, CA.

When all the children were in school, Sharon went back to school also to become a Registered Nurse. She worked in various capacities at DMC Manteca and DMC Modesto where she retired after many years. Sharon always said that she enjoyed patient care the most.

We can all agree as Kyle put it, “that she was an amazing person.”

Sharon loved to travel: Safaris in Africa, South American cruise, road trips with Cal and later with Vanessa and Elliott, Alaska cruise with Cal and Kyle, snorkeling in Hawaii, etc. etc.

She always had a book nearby and loved to bake. We will miss our special treats. Time spent with family and friends was precious to her.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, husband Cal, son Lon and daughter Perian. She is survived by her son Rick, grandson Kyle (Kati), great granddaughter Kylin, daughter-in-law Carla and sister-friend Vanessa (Elliott) and many dear cousins and friends.

We are thankful to the Community Hospice team as well as Fran for their kind, loving care of our mother/grandmother.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, 11 a.m. at Oakdale Memorial Chapel, 830 West F Street, Oakdale, CA.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Sharon’s memory to: Community Hospice Foundation, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95350.
