Renee Gallagher

Renee passed away quietly on July 13, 2015, she was 91. Renee was preceded by her beloved husband Jim, her father Paul Cortese, mother Amelia, and two sisters Ida Sisson and Marie Moritz. Renee was born in Oakdale and attended Oakdale High School, she graduated in 1942. After high school, she attended Modesto Junior College. She then moved to San Francisco where she went to work for the U.S. Marine Corps to help in the war effort.
While there, she met her lifelong partner, Capt. James Gallagher, USMC. They were married at Old St. Mary’s Catholic Church in San Francisco on January 12, 1946. This was followed quickly by the births of their three children, Edward (November 1947), Jamie (May 1949), and Laura (June 1950). Jim and Renee lived their entire lives in California, but jobs and opportunities moved them around the state, San Francisco, Redwood City, Sacramento, Thousand Oaks, Alamo, Palm Desert, and Laguna Woods.
Renee is survived by her brother, Paul Cortese; her three children, Edward, Jamie, and Laura; two grandchildren, Steve Gallagher and Jill Krantz, and five great grandchildren, Emma, Audrey and Phoebe Gallagher and Avery and Sawyer Krantz.
A burial and memorial service will be held at Oakdale Citizens Cemetery on October 9, 2015 at 11 a.m.
