Banducci

Mary Jo (Nana Mary, Nanie, Nan) Dodd Banducci, 89, of Oakdale passed away peacefully at Tranquility Living in Oakdale on Valentine’s Day, Thursday, Feb. 14 2013 with her family at her side.

She was born Jan. 19, 1924 in Tellar, Oklahoma, the daughter of Joseph and Jennie Russell. She moved to California 66 years ago. She was Head Housekeeper at Oak Valley Hospital for 35 years.

Mrs. Banducci loved collecting antiques. She enjoyed giving people her treasures and telling them her stories behind the meaning of what she had collected. She had perfected the art of conversation and never met a stranger. All were welcome and all were special in her eyes. She was an excellent southern cook who will be remembered by her famous fried chicken dinners and mouth-watering pies. Although she had collected so many treasures over the years, she leaves behind her most special treasure, her rescue dog “Oscar.”

Survivors include her children, son Darwin Dodd of Ceres, daughter Cheryl Roche (Joe) of Escalon, son Tim Dodd (Lourdes) of Modesto and daughter-in-law Elaine Dodd of Reno; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; they were all her pride and joy. She also leaves what she considered to be the integral part of her life; her very special group of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Banducci and her son, Ron Dodd.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Feb. 20 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Oakdale Memorial Chapel.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel.

Private burial will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sierra Foothills Community Church, 1040 W. F St., Oakdale, CA 95361 or to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356.
