Mark was born in San Luis Obispo, CA. He was married to Annette Sharp and they had two children, Katelyn and Garrett. He was a backhoe operator for D & M Backhoe, for 12 years before starting his own excavation business. He also was in the cattle and farming business for 28 years. He collected and restored Toyota Land Cruisers and his pride and joy was his red Toyota truck. He loved to hunt and fish with his many friends. He was an Eagle Scout and hosted scouting events on the ranch. He also was a member of E Clampus Vitus Estanislao #58 who also met on the ranch.

His family purchased property near the Knights Ferry Covered Bridge. Some of which now is a part of the “String of Pearls” recreation areas along the Stanislaus River. He lived most of his adult life on the Knights Ferry Ranch.

He and his family are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He leaves behind his mother Mary Lou Allen (Joseph), father Bob Hunter (Lis Whalen), daughter Katelyn, son Garrett, also his sisters Linda Knudtson and Sarah Rhees and their families. The family would like to thank Jenna Ling for her friendship and support to Mark and the personnel at Kaiser Hospital for their kindness and assistance.

Remembrances may be made to the Knights Ferry History and Museum Associates, PO Box 861, Knights Ferry, CA 95361. Oakdale Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. A Funeral Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Oakdale Chapel, 1111 East A, Oakdale on Friday Feb. 19, 2016 at 11 a.m.
