Retiring from Stanislaus County in 2009, Laurel worked as a social worker for twenty-nine years. She resided in Oakdale for most of her life before following her dream of moving to Reno, NV after retirement. An avid sports fan, she loved to root for the San Francisco Giants and San Francisco 49ers. She enjoyed traveling, reading, art and culture and, most of all, spoiling her dog, Darla. Known for generosity and kindness, Laurel will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on August 7th at 1 p.m. at Sierra Foothills Community Church, 1040 W. ‘F’ St., Oakdale. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made in Laurel’s name to UCSF Hematology, P.O. Box 0248, San Francisco, CA 94104 or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society – www.donate.lls.org.
