JIMMIE LOU BROWN died of natural causes February 7, 2015 in Modesto, CA.  She was 78 years old.

Jimmie was born on July 3, 1936 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to James and Esther Porter.  She moved to the Oakdale area with her family while in grade school.  In her early years she enjoyed horseback riding and being with her friends.  She later enjoyed riding motorcycles with Cecil Brown, whom she married in 1957.

Mrs. Brown was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a cherished friend; she volunteered at school and church.  She was a visiting teacher with the LDS church and helped those in need with their shopping and errands.

Jimmie was a gifted and creative seamstress; she created authentic Irish step dance costumes for her granddaughter and other young dancers both local and in other states.  She often created unique costumes, bags, and clothes for her friends and family.

Jimmie also enjoyed her many get-togethers with her lifelong friends “the ladies,” who enjoyed her warmth and sense of humor.

Mrs. Brown is survived by husband Cecil Brown; children Lovanna Brown, Linda Brighton, and Roland Brown; grandchildren Bonnie Brown, Elliott Brighton, and Jessica Brighton; and great-granddaughter Annabelle Lee, and a great-grandson due in May; her sister Esther Woodhead and brothers Carl Porter and Les Porter.   She is preceded in death by her brother Charles Porter and sister Floretta Beeker.

A celebration of her life will be held at the family’s residence on April 4th 2015 at 12:00 noon.
