Jason Edward Turnage, 39, died Wednesday, March 14 of colon cancer.

He was born in Fremont, California and lived the majority of his life in Oakdale. He was a 1991 graduate of Oakdale High School and a United States Navy veteran. In 1995, he and friend Jeff Sawyer founded Oakies Board Shop. He began Plush Screen Printing in 1996 with one employee Paul Riva. In 2003 the two men combined their experience and began a partnership as Apparel Graphics, Inc. He held the position of President at the company. He was also a member of Oakdale Rotary, Big Valley Grace Community Church and Icee- Anderson’s 209- Snap BMX Team.

In addition to his professional accomplishments he was a dedicated husband, father, brother and friend. When not working at Apparel Graphics he enjoyed BMX racing, playing golf and spending time with his family. He loved traveling with his wife, good music and good food. He most enjoyed watching his children do what they love. He was a man with a strong faith in God and Jesus Christ. He was lovingly referred to by many as a ‘warrior’ for the strength and bravery he demonstrated while battling cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel Turnage; three children, Taylor, Ethan and Eli; mother Suzy Sigman and sister, Jamie Turnage, all of Oakdale.

Graveside service will be held on Friday, March 23 at 10 a.m. at Burwood Cemetery, Escalon. A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Big Valley Grace Community Church, Modesto. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at the Gene Bianchi Community Center, Oakdale.
