Fred Paulus, 85, of Escalon, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, July 31.

Born in Oakland, CA on July 30, 1927, he was a WWII and Korean War Veteran.

Mr. Paulus spent 65 years in Escalon, farming rice while owning Paulus Rice Dryer. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, RV’ing from Alaska to Mexico with his wife Faye and spending time with family and friends.

He was past President of Escalon Sportsmen Club and the Rice Growers Association Board of Directors. He was actively involved with the Escalon Fire Department, Burwood Cemetery and Rice Research.

He was loved and will be missed by many.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Faye; four children, Terri Paulus, Curt Paulus (Valerie), Sheri Anderson (Brent), and Kimberly Butler (Steve); grandchildren Dana, Nikole, Garett, Lacey, John and Joseph; and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Joe Paulus and a sister, Joy Barber.

Visitation was Monday, Aug. 6 at Deegan Chapel, Escalon. Graveside service was at Burwood Cemetery, Escalon, on Tuesday Aug. 7.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alexander Cohen Hospice and Escalon Ambulance.
