BOSTON.JPG

Betty, as she was known to her friends, entered into her final rest surrounded by family on Sept 24, 2018. She was born on Aug. 24, 1924 to Irving and Margaret Bentley in San Francisco, Ca. She had one brother, Jefferson Bentley, who preceded her in death.

She married Gerald Johnstone, who died in WWII. They had a daughter, Patricia Ann Johnstone Shaefer. She married a second time to William Gray Boston. They were married 65 years until his passing in 2010. They had two daughters Andrea Boston Gilbert and Rebecca Ione Boston.

Betty was a trail blazer in her life. She was the first woman to be elected to the Riverbank School Board. She was a Charter member of the Family Service Agency in Stanislaus County in 1956. She was a proud member of the Modesto chapter of P.E.O.

In her personal life she was a very talented interior decorator and loved making her home a warm and stylish place for family and friends. She and Bill were members of Oakdale Golf and Country Club for 50 years. In their retirement, they traveled the US in their RV. You could always find Betty playing bridge, poker or Backgammon with friends.

Betty is survived by her three daughters, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren with another on the way.

Graveside services will be held at Oakdale Citizens Cemetery on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 10 a.m., followed by a reception at Oakdale Country Club.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Modesto Community Hospice.
