nws

The National Weather Service out of Sacramento has issued a wind advisory for the region, which remains in effect through 10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13.

The affected area includes portions of the Sacramento Valley, Carquinez Strait and Delta and the northern San Joaquin Valley.

South winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected. Local gusts up to 50 mph are possible.

Residents are advised to take precautionary measures during this wind advisory, which went into effect at 4 a.m. Monday and runs throughout the evening hours.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects wherever possible.

The gusty southerly winds across portions of interior northern California are in conjunction with the strong winter storm moving through, bringing rain to the area as part of an atmospheric river.
