With our 2014 Stanislaus County Fair behind us and our State Fair in full swing we look at the commitment our FFA and 4-H families have. Much like our youth sports teams the commitment is huge and it is usually a total family commitment! With 4-Hers and FFA students the commitment is year round, and first involves learning about caring for the animals. Next comes hands on experience and attending judging events and project meetings. Then it’s ownership. Another remarkable part of both FFA and 4-H is the dedication of great leaders and teachers! These teachers and leaders can make a huge impact on their members and students. We have tremendous respect for the fine 4-H leaders and devoted Ag teachers who give up their time to teach our youngsters. They do make a difference! As spring time approaches it’s time to purchase your fair animal. This is the time the commitment becomes very real. The early morning feedings, the next couple of hours spent working with your animal, the days leading up to fair are full of responsibility. Once at fair your commitment is in full force. Congratulations to all exhibitors!

St. John’s Lutheran Church in Valley Home ran out of water a few weeks ago. The casing or pipe has been extended so they have water for now. They are on the list for a new well and are doing many fundraising events to pay for it. The first event is selling Prime Shine Car Wash tickets for $7.00 for one and three for $20.00. These tickets do not expire so they are good for presents, including Christmas. To get tickets, call Tammie at 604-6942 or Judy at 847-6647.
