Fourth of July ... Sparklers, firecrackers, homemade ice cream, hot dogs and tall cold glasses of frosty lemonade! This special holiday is a reason to celebrate! We celebrate this great country, with the silvery outline of Lady Liberty etched in our minds, we gather to watch the dazzling explosions of color high in the evening sky. Whether your family celebrates big or celebrates small this special holiday always does your heart good! Old Glory with all her beauty waves proudly in the summer time breeze, children run and play on fresh mowed lawns, old folks sit and rock gently on front porches. Red, white, and blue banners decorate white picket fences. All of this a tribute to a wonderful way of life... A life enjoyed and appreciated by each one of us! As dusk turns to a velvety dark sky, the smell of honeysuckle fills our senses and we feel the overwhelming pride that comes from living in this great country. I hope each one of you will enjoy this beautiful day and for at least this one special day forget the worries that sometimes creep in and cloud our good times! Have a safe and happy Fourth of July!

The family of Mikayla Zwald would like to thank those who helped with finding the persons responsible for vandalizing Mikayla’s gravesite. May our sweet Mikayla rest in peace.

A summer time treat... During the summer if you’re fortunate enough to live within a mile of Besta Osmundson, you are blessed with the sweet smell of homemade jam and jelly. The aroma fills the neighborhood and once again we are reminded of the kitchens and smells of our childhood. Thank you for allowing us to relive a precious memory!

Baseball and summer time, we miss our boys of summer, the friends and pals that a few years ago would gather at Valley Home School to play ball and enjoy the camaraderie of long time friendships! After work on hot Valley Home afternoons, they would gather. The fun would begin and the joy of living in a small rural community would unfold! We definitely miss our boys of summer...
