It’s fair time again! Many of us have special memories of attending the county fair in our youth. What great times were had at the fair! The brightly colored Ferris wheel was always my favorite as I was never brave enough for the faster rides. For others it was the tilt-a-whirl...spinning faster and faster until before you knew it, it was spinning you rather than you spinning it. It is wildly fun and for some they can’t get enough of it. Whatever your ride of choice the county fair is always a fun time for all! Remember those fair smells...the just cooked jumbo corn dogs, the fragrant, sticky sweet cotton candy, and the ice-cold lemonade sold from the lemon shaped stand. For many generations, looking forward to the county fair has been an important part of summertime. One of the best memories of being fortunate enough to show livestock at the fair is the wonderful camaraderie and friendships that are made. Watching our young people show their fair animals is a most rewarding experience. Their hard work and countless hours spent working with their prized animals is a tribute to the spirit of these wonderful young people! As you read this the Stanislaus County Fair will be in full swing and I hope each of you will have a wonderful fair experience and will make many special fair memories for your summertime 2014!

Linda Perez reports that three more wells have gone dry in Valley Home. This is very sad news for our community.
