We have just received this welcome news concerning Richard Mullins from his daughter, Tena. Tena, and her family, would like to offer “a very heartfelt thank you to everyone who has helped, and offered word of comfort and prayers during our Dad’s illness…he is doing much better and is home now. Thank you! Thank you! And a special thank you to our wonderful firemen and paramedics, who have taken such good care whenever they have been called upon! We truly are blessed to have such professionals here in our community!”

There is excitement in the air as our Valley Home 4-Hers are busy getting ready for the Stanislaus County Fair! Lambs, hogs, goats, rabbits, chickens and cows are all being readied for show. We also have many arts and crafts and baked items in addition to the above mentioned items! In addition to the entries, our 4-Hers will be working the Farmyard Experience at the Fair on Tuesday, August 4th. This has been a lot of fun for not only the members, but leaders also (especially leaders who enjoy singing and dancing to the live entertainment!)

We offer a belated Happy Birthday to Scott Heaton. Scott celebrated the big 4-0 on July 15th but, did it very quietly (until now). Daughter, Jenna plans on taking Dad on a trip to the Atlantis Seafood Buffet to celebrate the occasion!

Donations to the Oakdale Ag Boosters are needed to assist in the purchase of 4H members’ market animals at the fair auction – especially difficult this year due to economy problems. Anyone who would like to make a tax deduction donation to help a 4H member please contact Tammie Smith at 847-6803. She will make sure a 4H member in need will benefit from the donation. Oakdale Ag Boosters will host a dinner for all donors on August 25th. Great food including BBQ beef, pork & lamb from 4H projects is on menu plus a lot of fun and great atmosphere.

Valley Home PTC president, Lisa Jones offers the following update on activities of group. The Valley Home PTC held a meeting on Tuesday, July 21st and was able to compile a calendar for the 2009-2010 School Year. Lisa offers a big thank you to all who attended. It is so nice to have the calendar done prior to the start of school. The draft will be available the first day of school. There are a couple of items that do not have a set date and we plan to complete this once school starts so we can have all the teacher’s input on them.
There will be a PTC meeting on the first Thursday of the school year, August 13th at 3 p.m. in Mrs. Moore’s classroom on the Texas Avenue campus. Babysitting is available in Mrs. Rathbun’s class for all in attendance. All are invited to attend, so please mark your calendars for this informative meeting!
All parents and/or guardians that attend will receive a $2 certificate good towards the purchase of a Hawk “Spirit Shirt” which all students and faculty wear on Fun Spirit Fridays! We have some fun and exciting things in store for the students and teachers this year, so make sure to stop in and hear all about
