Oak Valley Art Society members met at the Escalon Library on Saturday, and members enjoyed a very informative program on art techniques offered by long time member, and prize winning artist, Dorothy Girling. Due to a mix-up, the artist scheduled to demonstrate that day was unavailable and the group was treated to a very enjoyable program by Dorothy, who offered helpful hints to the group on working with pastels and various and helpful hints on that medium.

Our Valley Home MAC met this past week in the Valley Home school library. It was a very informative meeting with several reports given about our community. Deputy Fire Chief Mike Wapnowski and Battalion Chief Bussel shared information that our fire station is open 50 percent of the time and when fire fighters are available it is open more often. They graciously allowed an extended question and answer period for which those attending were grateful It is not too early to check off April 17th on your calendar and plan to attend the next MAC scheduled meeting, these meetings provide a great source of information on what is occurring in our Valley Home community that we need to be aware of.

California Highway Patrol officer, A.J. Palazuelos was also present at the meeting and offered a very detailed report on activity in our area. During the period of December 16, 2012 through January 16, 2013 there were two non injury collisions, four injury collisions and two DUI related arrests. Brian England from the County Public Roads reported on our roads and asked that we contact him with any concerns we have with our Valley Home area roads. Our Valley Home School superintendent reported that the school would be interviewing for the position of custodian/maintenance on January 18. For additional information please contact the school office.
