It was so nice to see so many of our Valley Home neighbors out and about this past weekend and enjoying the wonderful sunny weather. What a fabulous change from the cold and wet weather we had earlier in the week!

We are delighted to start off the week by offering a BIG Valley Home warm welcome to new Pleasant Valley neighbors, Ken, Laura and Cody Soffiotto!

The night air resounded with the sound of beautiful music earlier this week much to the delight of Joe and Linda Perez. The couple was surprised by a visit from 4-H members, Mary Beth, Emma and Wyatt who stopped by to wish them a Merry Christmas and serenaded them with Christmas Carols in appreciation of all the work Joe and Linda have done at the new Valley Home Center Park.

The honor of celebrating the first birthday of the year goes to Cooper Bartholomew, Peter and Melissa’s son, who will celebrate his third birthday at midnight on January 1. We all wish him a bushel of Happy Birthday wishes!

All ready to begin a New Year of activities, our Valley Home 4-H members will hold their first meeting of the year on Tuesday, January 4. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Valley Home School Multi-Purpose Room/Gym located at the new campus. Officers and members are reminded to wear your 4-H shirts. If by chance you haven’t purchased one, you may obtain one at the meeting. Lots of interesting activities are coming up on the meeting agenda!

February 1 will feature one of the group’s favorite activities, their annual Box Social which will be held in the VHS gym. Group members are reminded to start thinking about what they would like to bring for their auction item to the meeting. It is a good time to begin perusing your cookbooks to come up with a tempting goody to place in your box for the auction! Our 4-H’ers always have fun creating tasty goodies to place in the boxes and even more fun decorating the boxes to make them extra fancy to tempt the buyer into bidding for them. It is also lots of fun to think of other ways you can help in adding to the fun and making the event a success! Remember to invite friends, family and neighbors to join you in this fun filled event.

Valley Home 4-H members are already making plans for a bus trip to Disneyland on April 2. They will leave at midnight from here and will enjoy a full day of playing and fun in Disneyland, then return to the bus late Saturday and plan to be back home in Valley Home early Sunday morning! The members are planning to hold fundraisers to help defray the cost of the trip.

Oakdale Rodeo will be coming up on April 8, 9 and 10 and the group plans to have their annual Rodeo booth fundraiser where the group will be selling hot dogs, soda and drinks. Lots of help is always needed in getting the Club booth ready and cleaned for the event. Help is also needed in shipping or supplies. Parents and members are needed to help. Members are reminded to mark their calendars and save the dates so you can help!

Glenn and Laura Burghardt enjoyed a wonderful weekend of dinner and visiting. The couple was delighted to accept an invitation to meet and enjoyed dinner with the Visenor family and Ryan Burghardt’s ‘adopted’ Grandmother, on Christmas Eve evening. What a wonderful evening spent with new friends.

Saturday found the couple hosting a family Christmas dinner with the son and grandson and Sunday they enjoyed a visit with their daughter, Patricia. It was a lovely weekend!
