Jenna Heaton was overheard at the Fair giving much praise to friend, Travis Kent. Travis is a great showman and helped Jenna show her meat goat at the fair, even though he had never shown a goat before. Good job, Travis! The Swine group had a great showing at the Fair. Thanks to Kathy Bryhni for all her hard work. Special thanks also to Ryan Nuegenbauer…what would we do without you! Valley Home Horse group had a wonderful showing, thanks to the dedication and work of our Horse Leader, Shawn Hayes. Valley Home Sheep group had a great showing, as always, Bret and Cheri Martin and family, thank you. The Meat Goat group had a great showing with many top showmen and goats. Great job Scott Heaton and his helpers. Special thanks to Earl Fife, who always gives so much, not only to his beef group, but to all who need his help.

School started off very nicely with a Kindergarten welcome. Members of the Valley Home PTC were there and setting up at 7:45 a.m. and to their surprise there was not a whole lot of traffic. We received word from PTC president, Lisa Jones, that when she took her Kindergartner into class about 8 a.m. to be with her teacher, Mrs. Rathbun, half the class was already there. Parents came out of the classroom, stopped to pick up PTC information, the bell schedule and enjoyed muffins and water provided by the PTC.
The first PTC meeting for the semester was held on Thursday. Lots of new faces in attendance. About 25 parents were able to attend, and all were welcomed with a coupon good towards purchase of “Spirit Wear” shirts.
Lisa also shares the news that the next event hosted by the PTC will be Back-2-School Graffiti Night on Friday, August 28th at 6 p.m. Have a vehicle or motorcycle to enter in the event? There are no fees. Sign up is available at both school sites, Waffle Factory and Oakdale Locksmith. Yum! Free root beer floats for all to cool down on a Hot August Night; Lisa invites everyone to come and enjoy the sights with us!
