At a time when we are looking for the positives in our lives, I was blessed this past week! I just happened to walk into the room where my grandson, Cooper was starting his school day, distance learning, his teacher said, please stand and together we will say the Pledge of Allegiance. I stepped back a few feet and watched in silence as Cooper stood, took off his hat and placed it over his heart. I felt an enormous sense of pride in our young people and what they are being taught in our classrooms! I am sure each morning all over our area there are young people showing their respect and appreciation for our country and our educators. Even in these difficult times, our educators are doing all they can for our children! I stood listening as the teacher began the days lesson, the tone of her voice, positive and uplifting, calling on each student, expecting and receiving respect and participation from every student and all via computer. Our educators have definitely met the challenge! Normally I try not to write too much about my life and my family, but this week I felt I should share my feelings. In my life, for sure, I have ups and downs, good days and not so good days, but when I look at the positives, there are many. Here are just a few of the blessings in my life. My granddaughter, Jenna is finishing her requirements to obtain her teaching degree. She is enjoying her time as a student teacher (via distance learning) with Mr. Fields at Oakdale High. We are so grateful that during this time, she is still able to continue on with her goal of becoming a teacher. My grandson Cody is working long hours and long days, but he loves his job. He will be taking welding classes in the fall. He is a hardworking, fun loving and respectful young man. Grandson Cooper is enjoying his eighth grade year. He misses being with his friends, but has managed to go to a few bull ridings this summer! Cooper works really hard and enjoys his job irrigating very much! My youngest grandchild, Millie is in the fourth grade this year and misses her school friends very much! She is conscientious with her school work and does her best every day. Millie has such a caring spirit and is always ready to read a Bible verse with me. I am sure my husband Richard is very proud and smiling down from heaven. Although my life has had many ups and downs, there is much to be grateful for. I hope each of you are having more good days than the not so good days. May God bless you all!
