A beautiful yellow lab, well-cared for but scared by the July 4 fireworks, showed up near the intersection of Sawyer Avenue and Pleasant Valley Road on Saturday evening; contact me at 985-5233 if this is your lost pet or if you might know the owner, so we can get this canine back to its own home.

County fair time! Young and old alike look forward to the County Fair! For most of us the county fair brings memories of happy times, delicious food and special visits with friends young and old alike. For fair exhibitors the next week will be filled with lots of preparation, anxiety and hard work, with tons of fun mixed in! Some will be showing their prized animal, usually an animal they have become very attached to! Many have worked very hard for the last few months to raise a potential County Fair winner! For those who show animals, usually through 4-H or FFA, the fair experience teaches self-confidence, respect for others, and the importance of ethics when raising an animal. For other exhibitors the excitement is entering a favorite jam, jelly, mini garden, or perhaps a woodworking or sewing project. For all, the fair brings the chance to meet new friends, visit with old friends and enjoy all the fun of the County Fair. This year the Stanislaus County Fair starts Friday, July 10 and runs for 10 days. Enjoy!

Also keep in mind our Valley Home Community Park annual Yard Sale. The yard sale will be held on Saturday, August 8th at the park. This fundraiser supports maintaining the park (taxes, insurance, PG&E, etc.) It is very rare for a community to share equally the ownership of a community park, but such is the case here in Valley Home. We are so fortunate! Your donations of items for the sale would be greatly appreciated. It will take all of us working together to ensure our community park will always be maintained and a source of pride in Valley Home. This year delicious tri tip sandwiches, frosty cold drinks and snacks will be offered for sale. Look us up on Facebook - Valley Home Community Park or call me, Winnie, for more information.

We mourn the loss of our friend, Daryle Waddle. I remember Daryle fondly from our days in the 1960s at East Union High School. Daryle was a talented athlete, fun to be around and an extremely nice friend to all! Our hearts go out to his sweetheart Becky Gomez, and his very special family. May each of you be comforted by the precious memories you will carry with you forever.
