Sheriff Adam Christianson was guest speaker at the Valley Home MAC meeting held on August 18. He addressed issues with budgeting, loss of patrol, detectives and community deputies. He also addressed individual community member concerns regarding recent trespass, theft of personal property and other criminal activity. He also gave information on how to apply for a free service by STARS volunteers in which they stamp farm property with a universal identifying number, which is then placed in a national database to make recovery easier for the property owner. Home owners/farmers/ranchers who would like to have their property, farm implements, etc. marked with personal identification number which is then tracked in the national database should contact the STARS program representative, Vernon Blagg at 652-0356. This program is FREE! Sheriff Christianson also shared information regarding local methamphetamine use, gang tagging and graffiti, Woodward Reservoir patrol and other issues.

Joe Perez brought us up to date on progress being made at the Valley Home Community Center Park. He reported that progress with the project is currently 87 percent complete and under budget and requested more community volunteers to assist with the park project. Interested persons should contact Joe or Sharon Furtado.

It has been reported that there has been an increase in trespass and theft in the Valley Home area and there have been numerous incidents of trespass also in the 26 Mile Road/Dorsey areas at several homes both in the early morning hours and later in the day. We have been experiencing an increase in trespass and theft. If you see anything suspicious please call the Sheriff/911 to report it and also remember to notify your neighbors.

We are reminded to be extra cautious on both Lone Tree Road and Pioneer Avenue intersection and Pleasant Valley and Pioneer intersection as cars are still running the stop signs at high speeds.

Jeff Burghardt celebrated his 23rd birthday with a trip to Infineon Raceway at Sonoma. Jeff recently received credentials allowing him to take photos both on the track and also in the Pit area. Helping Jeff to celebrate his special day and use of his new credentials to take photos were his dad Mike, mother Marge and niece, Kaili.
