We mourn the loss of our dear friend, longtime Valley Home resident Kathy Dickens. We are deeply saddened by the passing of this very special woman. Kathy would have been 77 years old on November 16, 2020. Kathy was the beloved wife of the late Marcell Dickens. Marcell passed away on January 7, 2018. In the early years of their marriage they owned and operated a very successful Jersey dairy in Valley Home. The dairy was named Acacia Acres. Over the years Kathy and Marcell would become the proud parents of four amazing sons, Mark, Brian, Keith and Kevin. Kathy and Marcell were strong supporters of their sons’ activities through the years. They were active in Valley Home 4-H and were involved in most community events. As their boys grew older they stayed involved with all their activities especially their high school sports! Kathy and Marcell both loved to share stories about their sons and their families. They would often talk about the happy times and the joy of raising their boys in Valley Home! They were so proud of their grandchildren and great grandchildren and were always ready with a story about each one. Tragedy came to the Dickens family with the devastating loss of son Mark. There is not a day that goes by that this devoted family does not think of their beloved Mark. Kathy was an amazing woman, a loving mother and grandmother, and a caring friend to all who knew her. After moving into Oakdale, Kathy enjoyed close friendships with her neighbors. She will be remembered for her “Love of God” and her devotion to her family. May God bring comfort to all who knew and loved Kathy. Graveside services will be held Friday, November 20 at Burwood Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
