As communities continue to usher in the holiday season, Valley Home was among the latest to host a special event. The annual Community Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting was staged on Saturday evening, Dec. 9.

The lighted holiday parade featured nearly two dozen entries and they followed a triangular route around a couple of streets in the hamlet, beginning and ending at the school parking lot. They did a couple of trips around the route to make sure everyone got to see them, wave, and pick up the candy that was tossed from many of the floats.

Serving as Grand Marshal, leading the way, was Mrs. Audrey Rinna and other floats featured local school kids, area families, one that brought Santa to town, and more. There was a lighting of the Community Christmas Tree in the park following the parade, along with a manger scene, fire pits for roasting marshmallows to make s’mores, a traditional cookie exchange, Christmas carols, hot chocolate and the chance to enjoy the chilly evening with warm hearts.
