Tuesday Night Crash Claims Two Lives
CHP

An Oakdale father and daughter died in a Tuesday evening accident along Patterson Road, west of Langworth Road between Oakdale and Riverbank. The Aug. 7 crash occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m. and claimed the lives of Giselle Evangelista, 16, of Oakdale – who was driving the 2000 Toyota – and her father, 45-year-old Hector, who was a passenger in the vehicle. According to the CHP report, Evangelista, who was driving westbound on Patterson Road, veered into the eastbound lane, then crossed back into the westbound lane as an eastbound vehicle approached. The Toyota then turned abruptly to the left and into the path of the oncoming vehicle, an eastbound 2014 Dodge with a driver and three juvenile passengers inside. All four in the Dodge were also from Oakdale.

The vehicles collided head on and the Toyota went off the roadway and overturned in a ditch. Witnesses attempted to pull the driver and passenger from the Toyota but were unable to due to the extent of damage to the vehicle. The teen and her father were both pronounced dead at the scene. Those in the second vehicle were all taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto for non-life threatening injuries. All parties involved were wearing their seatbelts.

Evangelista would have started her junior year at Oakdale High School on Thursday, Aug. 9 as classes resumed for the new school year.
