Two dozen fourth through sixth grade students participated this year in the Fair Oaks Spelling Bee at the elementary school in Oakdale. Retired Fair Oaks sixth grade teacher, Mr. Burns returned to be the Spelling Master. Sasha Martinez, center, from Mrs. Billings’ sixth grade class placed third. Caleb Gardner, left, from Mr. Boek’s sixth grade class placed second and Adam Yakligian, right, from Mrs. White’s fifth grade class placed first. Adam will be representing Fair Oaks Elementary at the Stanislaus County Elementary Spelling Championship on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
