Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 2-5-25

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Jan. 28 through Monday, Feb. 3. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, FEB. 3

The MST Fire Academy trained on forcible entry with special focus on conventional, single and two-person inward and outward doors.

Battalion 2: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Quint 22 practiced setting up an anchor system for rope rescue incidents.

Engine 26 and Engine 27 trained in engine company operations.

Battalion 5: Crews performed Monday apparatus checks and station yard maintenance.

Crews conducted company level training in their respective FMA’s.

Engine 7 and Battalion 5 discussed fire ground operational procedures.

Engine 29 and Battalion 5 discussed response routes and target hazards for Station 29’s FMA. Engine 26 and Engine 27 trained on residential size up and first line hose selection and location. While training the crews took the opportunity to show some kids the fire engine and squirt some water.

 

SUNDAY, FEB. 2

Battalion 2: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Station 22 personnel prepared the training curriculum for upcoming water rescue training.

Station 26 participated in a multi-company training drill.

Battalion 5: Crews performed apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Crews conducted company level training in their respective FMA’s.

Engine 9 and BC 1 conducted promotional training for the upcoming BC test.

Engine 26, Engine 27, and Battalion 5 conducted training at Station 27 focusing on rural water supply operations and stretching primary attack lines.

 

SATURDAY, FEB. 1

Several companies conducted company level training in various locations.

Battalion 2: Engines 9, 21, and 23 conducted Saturday drills at the Modesto City/County Airport. They discussed entry points to the airport and emergency response to the airfield and hangars.

Station 26 trained with their ALS equipment in preparation for an upcoming protocol test for two firefighters on the engine.

Stations 22 and 24 trained on rope rescue systems at their stations.

Station 24 had a Waterford High School senior riding along working on his senior project.

Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Companies trained on rope rescue systems, command scenarios and SCBA evolutions.

 

FRIDAY, JAN. 31

The MST new hire academy trained on forcible entry techniques.

Battalion 2: Crews completed the weekly checks of the Type III and Type VI apparatus at their stations.

Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Engine 27 trained on pumping evolutions.

8:27 p.m. – Engine 28 and Battalion 5 to Linda Court for a medical aid.

 

THURSDAY, JAN. 30

THE MST Fire Academy continued training evolutions at Fire Station 17.

Battalion 2: Companies completed rotating through EMS training.

Members of the Boat Program met with Modesto Police Department representatives at Fire Station 21 regarding a new boat patrol venture they are looking into.

Battalion 5: Battalion 5 and Engine 27’s new crew toured Woodward Reservoir getting familiar with the boat launches, the helicopter landing pad, and the rec areas where we will be responding to when the weather warms up. Woodward has potential for many types of incidents and is quite busy for us in the summer.

5:52 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 7 and BC5 were dispatched to a vehicle accident in the 5000 Block of Langworth Road in Oakdale. Crews arrived on scene to find a two-vehicle collision. The cars were 200 yards apart. One ended up off the road in a ditch. There were two minor injuries.

 

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 29

The MST Firefighter academy began training evolutions this week. The academy class includes 11 Modesto Recruit Firefighters, three Stanislaus Consolidated Recruit Firefighters and five Turlock Recruit Firefighters.

Battalion 2: Companies rotated through EMS training at Fire Station 22.

Engine 26 attended training with county EMS.

4:05 a.m. – Engine 24, Engine 23, Engine 9, Engine 28, Engine 21, Quint 22, BC5, BC2, Medic 1, and FIU responded to the 400 block Harriet Drive in Waterford for a working structure fire. Engine 24 arrived first and reported an “attached garage fire in a one story”. MST garage fire procedures were initiated, and the fire was contained to the residence of origin without any injuries.

Battalion 5: Crews performed apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Companies conducted company level training in their respective FMA’s.

BC5 attended a training focused on Active Shooter and MCI’s.

 

TUESDAY, JAN. 28

A Celebration of Life for retired Modesto Fire Captain Robert Berbena was held at the Elks Lodge in Modesto. The MST Honor Guard assisted with posting the colors.

A badge pinning was held for members who have recently promoted to the rank of Engineer and Captain. Congratulations to Engineer Brian Cameron, Engineer Ryan Fenton, Captain Andy Dalton, and Captain Will Caldwell.

Battalion 2: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Crews completed target hazard familiarization in their respective FMAs.

Engine 24 personnel completed EMS equipment and orientation training.

Battalion 5: Crews performed apparatus checks and weekly station yard maintenance.

Crews conducted company level training in their respective FMA’s.

4:30 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 27 and Battalion 5 responded to Valley Home Road and 26-Mile Road for the report of a two-vehicle collision. Engine 28 arrived on scene to a find a two-vehicle accident with front end damage to the vehicles. Two patients suffering minor injuries were treated at the scene.
