Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 2-3-21

Recruits at the Fire Academy are continuing their training, recently participating in hose week events and learning about hose deployment in a number of tactical situations. Modesto Fire Department Photo

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27 and 28 in Oakdale; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Jan. 26 through Monday, Feb. 1. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, FEB. 1

1:31 a.m. – Engines 9, 26, and Battalion 5 responded to a vehicle accident on Claus Road. Crews provided patient care to three patients, two immediate and one delayed. All patients were transported to area hospitals.

No times listed: Academy personnel continued their training on various types of attack lines; SCBA testing took place at Station 28.

4:30 p.m. – Modesto, Ceres, Stanislaus Consolidated Fire units responded to a residential structure fire in Empire. Crews worked in the offensive mode to contain a room and contents fire. No injuries reported; the Stanislaus Fire Investigations Unit was on scene working to determine cause and origin.

 

FRIDAY, JAN. 29

2:57 p.m. – Modesto Engine 9, Truck 5, Battalion 1, Modesto Police Department, Oak Valley Ambulance and AMR responded to a motor vehicle accident with entrapment at Claus and Floyd. One person was transported with major injuries. One firefighter paramedic assisted with patient care on board the ambulance enroute to a local hospital. MPD is investigating.

 

THURSDAY, JAN. 28

3:05 p.m. – Engine 28, Stanislaus Engine 26 and Battalion Chief 5 responded to a motor vehicle accident at Valley Home Road and 26-Mile Road. Crews found a vehicle off the roadway (non-injury) with CHP also on scene investigating.

11:39 p.m. – Engine 7 was dispatched to the 1400 block of Mosswood Lane for a fire on the exterior of the residence. Engine 7 arrived to find smoke and flames showing on the exterior of the residence with fire extending into the attic space. The response was upgraded (Engine 5, Engine 6, Squad 11, Stanislaus Engine 26, Truck 5, Battalion Chief 1 and Battalion Chief 3) and crews operated in the offensive mode containing the fire to the attic space. The fire is under investigation by the FIU.

 

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 27

No times listed – Crews continued to respond for downed power lines, trees, and vehicle accidents throughout the shift due to the inclement weather.

The technical rescue team conducted training near the Vintage Faire Mall.

New hires continued with their hose training for the week.

 

TUESDAY, JAN. 26

No times listed – The department’s new hires started hose week in the fire academy.

Crews were extremely busy throughout the night responding for downed trees, wires, and structural damage during the storm.
