Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 10-1-25
O-R fire calls

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2. Note: Shifts are in 24-hour time periods, from 5 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Sept. 23 through Monday, Sept. 29. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, SEPT. 29

Battalion 2: Crews completed weekly engine checks.

Several dispatches throughout the day for vegetation fires turned out to be permitted agricultural control burns.

Battalion 5: Crews completed weekly apparatus and equipment checks, and completed weekly station maintenance.

Engine 29 trained on hose pulls and pumping operations in the Knights Ferry area.

8:29 a.m. – Engine 9, Engine 26 and Battalion 5 to Terminal and Claribel for a vehicle accident. Crews arrived on scene to find a two-vehicle accident with the roadway partially blocked. One patient was treated by Firefighters and OVHD Medics and transported to a local hospital. CHP is investigating.

 

SUNDAY, SEPT. 28

Battalion 2: Crews conducted online training in Vector Solutions.

All five Battalion Chiefs met and discussed the commercial fire consideration scenarios for buildings unique to the battalions.

Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Battalion 5 attended training for the new Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) system.

Battalion 5 attended monthly BC training. This month’s topic was commercial fire attack.

9:50 a.m. – Engine 9, Grass/Water Tender 23 and Battalion 5 to Claus and Milnes for a vegetation fire. Crews arrived on scene to find a 50’ x 30’ vegetation fire in a vacant field. Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire with no damage to any structures. MPD detained one suspect and is investigating.

 

SATURDAY, SEPT. 27

MST Fire Ops 101 event occurred at Fire Station 17.

Battalion 2: Captains Ehrenburg, Lunde, and Grapes all participated in the delivery of Fire Ops 101.

Saturday training occurred across Battalion 2 today, including rescue drills. Crews also spent considerable time rehabbing tools and equipment from recent fires.

Battalion 5: 12:36 p.m. – OES4615, Brush 28 and BC2 were dispatched to a vegetation fire on Frankenheimer Road in Oakdale. Crews arrived on scene to find that it was a vehicle burning next to an orchard. The fire was extinguished in approximately five minutes.

1:52 p.m. – Engine 28 and BC5 were dispatched to a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle on F Street in Oakdale. There were no injuries.

6:20 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 26, Quint 22 and BC5 responded to a potential structure fire on Pedersen Road in Oakdale. Engine 28 arrived on scene and found smoke coming from the attic vents. BC5 arrived and upgraded it to a working fire (Engine 23, Engine 9, Engine 24, Medic 1 and BC2). The fire was contained to the attic and crews salvaged valuables in the home before overhauling the attic space to prevent any damage to belongings in the residence.

8:51 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 27, Engine 23, Quint 22 and BC5 were responded to a three-vehicle accident with a pin in. Crews arrived on scene to find a three-car crash with one being a semi-truck. One person was declared deceased at the scene and two others had minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals. CHP is investigating.

 

FRIDAY, SEPT. 26

Battalion 2: Engine 26 spent time working on firefighter sign offs during the shift.

12:02 a.m. – MST companies responded to a working structure fire in the 3500 block of Patterson Road in Riverbank. Engine 7 arrived on scene and found a mattress that had caught on fire in a bedroom due to an appliance overheating. The fire was extinguished, and crews assisted with smoke removal and overhauled the bedroom.

Battalion 5: 12:59 p.m. – Crews in Battalion 5 responded to a report of a working structure fire on D Street in Oakdale. E28 arrived first on scene to find a porch light that the wiring had failed on starting a fire. It was quickly extinguished to prevent any fire spread beyond the porch.

2:57 p.m. – Brush 28, OES4615, OES4618, Grass/WT23 and BC5 were dispatched to assist Cal Fire on a vegetation fire off Telegraph Road in Calaveras County on the Stanislaus County line. Crews were assigned to Division Alpha and Whiskey and helped control the fire. The fire was contained at approximately 40 acres.

 

THURSDAY, SEPT. 25

Battalion 2: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Quint 22, Engine 23, and Battalion 2 conducted walk-throughs of several target hazard buildings, reviewed building construction, and discussed emergency operations.

Battalion 5: 1:20 p.m. – OES4615, B28, B24, OES4617 and BC5 responded to a vegetation fire on Cooperstown Road in East Oakdale. Crews arrived to find a vegetation fire burning near the railroad tracks. OES4615 stopped the fire and Cal Fire assisted with the mop up. The fire was contained at one-eighth of an acre.

 

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 24

Modesto Fire Command Staff and Honor Guard attended the Yosemite Community College District’s State of the District. We are proud partners with YCCD providing educational opportunities to our community.

Battalion 5: Crews worked on apparatus and equipment checks.

5:25 p.m. – Modesto E27 responded to Willowood and Greger Avenue for a single vehicle accident. E27 arrived on scene and contacted the solo occupant who was uninjured. OPD was on scene investigating.

12:01 a.m. – OES4615 and BC5 responded to the 10000 block of Sonora Road for a reported vegetation fire. OES4615 arrived on scene and reported a half-acre fire on the hillside. After an aggressive fire attack the fire was quickly contained. Crews remained on scene until CalFire resources arrived and assisted with overhaul. The fire was believed to be started by a large thunderstorm cell moving through the area.

 

TUESDAY, SEPT. 23

Battalion 2: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Engine 28 and Brush 28 trained with the OHS Fire Science class on wildland tools, PPE and equipment.

Engines 12, 27 and 29 trained on vehicle extrication at Oakdale Auto Recyclers in preparation for Probationary FF 10-month testing.

2:57 p.m. – Engine 27 to Walnut Street for a vehicle accident. Firefighters arrived on scene with OPD to find two vehicles involved blocking the roadway. One patient was treated for minor injuries and transported to a local hospital. OPD is investigating.

7:20 p.m. – Engines 3, 5, 7, 11, 26, Truck 5, Medic 1, Battalions 3 and 5 to Circa Drive in Station 7’s FMA for a working structure fire. First arriving Firefighters found pool equipment on fire in the backyard of the residence. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire and scale back the response. There was no damage to the main residence. The FIU is conducting a cause and origin investigation.
