Veterans Job Fair Thursday In Modesto

The Heavy Equipment College of California, a leading educational and training school in Modesto, will join the Stanislaus County Veterans Employment Committee (SCVEC) in hosting a Veteran’s Job Fair in downtown Modesto on Thursday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. near its campus located at 409 12th St.

Two city blocks will be closed to provide booth space for more than 30 technical and manufacturing companies with a strong track record of hiring veterans, as well as schools and staffing agencies committed to helping veterans learn new, marketable job skills. The job fair is also open to the general public.

The Modesto Veteran Memorial Job and Info Fair is free and open to the public, and will include services such as résumé critiquing, job interview tips, training information, job search assistance and more. Veterans are urged to bring résumés since on-the-spot interviews may be available.

A Flag Ceremony and Program at 10:00 am will kick off the Job Fair. Parking is available at B and 11th Street.

The Stanislaus County Veterans Employment Committee is dedicated to assisting men and women who have served in America’s armed services with career opportunities, whether they are just recently discharged, have been out of service for an extended time or are retired from military duty.

The VA approved Heavy Equipment College of California has a long track record of training and placing veterans in the construction industry, where there is a need for trained and certified heavy equipment operators. The school offers three-week certified training courses in Heavy Equipment machines such as dozers, excavators, back hoes, and front loaders, as well as crane training and crane certification.
