Soroptimists Schedule ‘Dream It’ Conference

Local service organization Soroptimist International of Oakdale is sponsoring its annual “Dream It, Be It Career Support for Girls” conference for high school girls who reside in Oakdale. The conference will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Oakdale High School gym from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. New to the conference this year is a focus on career education and support for high school girls. Presentations from a panel of professional women in various careers has been added. There will also be sessions on values and goal setting, turning failures into successes, and balancing stress. Returning by popular request is Oakdale Police Officer Chelsea Stilwell with her presentation on Internet safety. This year’s keynote speaker is Oakdale’s Distinguished Young Woman Shannen Yang. The conference is free to attend and breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Dream It, Be It joins with the long-running Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women to create the “Soroptimist Dream Programs,” which provide sustainable, measurable change for women and girls, and ensure they have access to the education and training needed to reach their full potential and live their dreams. The Live Your Dream Awards assist women by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills, and job prospects. Soroptimist International of Oakdale is currently accepting Live Your Dream award applications for cash grant awards.
