A 10-year-old Magnolia Elementary fifth grader suffered serious injuries early evening Monday, Sept. 20 when she crashed on her bicycle, said Oakdale Police.

The young girl was riding down Oak Avenue to River Park down the steep grade when she lost control of her bicycle while riding with a friend and crashed face first into the asphalt. She was wearing a helmet but paramedics stated they were unsure the helmet would’ve prevented the injuries to her face.

She suffered a broken jaw in two different places, broke all her teeth and it is unsure at this time whether she suffered neck or spinal injuries. She was airlifted from the scene to UC Davis in Sacramento where she remains in serious condition.
